WJI Buzz - Abbott, Finch, Jenkins, Miller

Jul 19, 2010

WJI has been around long enough now to see the first generation of grads begin to train and send forth a new crop of journalists. The following WJI grads are now in positions of equipping young journalists (pictured above, left to right):

Dean Abbott (03) will begin a new position as Assistant Professor of Communication at Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Mount Vernon, Ohio, in the fall. Abbott has written for a number of newspapers, magazines and web sites. For the last three years, he has been Visiting Assistant Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Georgetown College.

Michael Finch (02) is a Ph.D. Fellow and journalism instructor at Regent University in Virginia Beach, Va.

Brad Jenkins (03) is the adviser of the student newspaper The Breeze at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va. He oversees the business side of the newspaper, advises the newsroom staff, and is an adjunct instructor. He is also co-publisher of Shenandoah Living magazine.

Rebecca Miller (03) is adviser to the 2,000-circulation weekly Collegian student newspaper at Grove City College (Pa.) She guided the paper through a complete redesign and helped lay the groundwork for the launch of an academic journalism practicum this year. Miller is assistant director of communications and works extensively with the 24,500-circulation alumni magazine.
