Press Release - WORLD Editors to Tutor Young Journalists
Jan 7, 2011
New York, N.Y., January 7, 2011—World Journalism Institute is pleased to invite young journalists to receive free editorial critiques from Nick Eicher, publisher of WORLD magazine, and Mindy Belz, managing editor of WORLD magazine. The editorial sessions will be held in Washington, D.C., at the Conservative Political Action Conference, February 10, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel.
In addition to reviewing articles, portfolios, or student newspapers brought by young journalists attending CPAC, Eicher and Belz will offer career counseling and professional advice. Each tutorial session is scheduled for 30 minutes but may be extended, depending on the circumstances. Journalists are encouraged to sign up ahead of time for an appointment, but walk-ins are also welcome.
Nick Eicher has been a radio and print journalist for over three decades. He has served WORLD magazine as a writer and reporter, editor, managing editor, and now publisher, and has also served as a press secretary for a United States Representative.
Mindy Belz is editor of WORLD magazine and has covered war in Africa, the Balkans, Afghanistan, and the Middle East. Her reporting has been published overseas, as well as in First Things, the Charlotte Observer, Frontpage Magazine and the Washington Times. She has appeared on Fox News and ABC News and is a regular guest on radio talk shows. She is a former Capitol Hill staffer.
This unique opportunity to receive free editorial counseling and evaluation from two of America’s top magazine editors is sponsored by the World Journalism Institute.
The World Journalism Institute’s mission is to recruit, equip, place and encourage Christian journalists in the newsrooms of first America and then the world. To that end, WJI offers courses, conferences, internship funding, and monographs on the intersection of Christianity and journalism.
