WJI Buzz - Adeoye, Shifflett, Vincent, Won

Segun Adeoye (chosen as 2009 Belz Fellow) has been awarded a six-month 2011 Alfred Friendly Press Fellowship. Adeoye is assistant online editor for TELL, a weekly news-magazine in Nigeria, and this fellowship enables him to report in the United States at the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.

Charlie Shifflett (01) is a full-time paid intern at Washingtonian magazine after spending four years reporting in China. Shifflett is a graduate of Cedarville University and has an M.A. in journalism from the University of Iowa. He can be reached at charlie.shifflett@gmail.com.

Lynn Vincent (teacher 00-06, 09) co-wrote the new book Unsinkable: A Young Woman's Courageous Battle on the High Seas with Abby Sunderland, who attempted in 2010 to become the youngest person ever to sail solo around the world.

Christine Won (Urbana Today 06) was awarded the Open Records Scoop of the Year “Scoopee” award from the Wisconsin Freedom of Information Council for a story she reported for the Racine Journal Times. Won is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and can be reached at Won.J.Christine@gmail.com.
