WJI Buzz - Picarello, Lowe, Emerling, Won

Anthony Picarello (invited WJI speaker 04) has been appointed to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships. Picarello is General Counsel of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops.

Mira Lowe (WJI teacher 05-09) has been named editor-in-chief of Jet magazine. "In this newly created position, Lowe will oversee all aspects of the magazine's editorial content, staffing and evolving direction on both print and digital platforms."

Gary Emerling (WJI alum 04) has been awarded a full-time 2009 Phillips Foundation Journalism Fellowship. His project is “Police State or Probable Cause‌ The Employment, Effectiveness and Legal Validity of Law Enforcement Checkpoints in the United States.” Gary works as D.C. reporter at the Metro Desk of The Washington Times.

Christine Won (WJI Urbana Today alum 06) has been hired as a general assignment reporter by The Racine (Wis.) Journal Times.
