Skip Bayless


Skip is a sports columnist for San Jose's Mercury News. Prior to this position, Bayless worked at the Chicago Tribune, the Dallas Morning News, and the Dallas Times Herald, where he was named Texas sportswriter of the year three times. While working for the Chicago Tribune in 2000, Skip was named Illinois Sportswriter of the Year. He graduated from Vanderbilt University on the Grantland Rice Scholarship in 1974 and became a sports feature writer at the Miami Herald and Los Angeles Times, where he won the Eclipse Award. Bayless is also the author of three best-selling books and has been a frequent contributor to Sports Illustrated and the New York Times. Skip has appeared many times on ESPN's "Sports Reporters" and "The Last Word with Jim Rome" on Fox SportsNet. He was the NFL commentator for MSNBC and ESPN Radio.
