Jack Simons

Biography

Jack Simons is the Head of the Communication Department of The Master's College. He earned a bachelor's degree in Bible Theology from Moody Bible Institute, an Interdisciplinary master's degree from Andrews University, a master's of Fine Arts in Creative Writing and master's degree in Expository Writing from University of Iowa, and a Ph.D. in English from Bowling Green State University. Simons worked as a feature writer and copy editor for the Waco News-Tribune, copy editor and Arts and Entertainment editor for The Daily Iowan, and Editorial page editor for The Iowa City Press-Citizen. During this time, he received numerous awards for editorial writing including state awards from the Iowa Press Association, Gannett monthly awards, and second place in a Gannett yearly contest. In addition, Simons spent 21 years as pastor of various Baptist churches in the Midwest. Married to one wife, Woody, for 35 years, he has six children and 10 grandchildren. He enjoys sailing, tennis, reading and walking.
