Paul de Vries is founder and president of New York Divinity School, the first evangelical seminary based in the City since 1969. He earned the Ph.D. (1978) from the University of Virginia and has been the lead author of three books, including The Taming of the Shrewd (1992, Thomas Nelson) and Ethics Applied (1999, Simon and Schuster). Dr. de Vries has served 25 years in higher education administration, designing and leading innovative programs to incarnate Biblical truth into people’s living and learning. He founded the Center for Applied Christian Ethics at Wheaton College where he was also an associate dean. He also founded the Office of Volunteer Community Service at the University of Virginia and an affordable housing program in Illinois.
