Alumni Program

Feb 2, 2010 - Dec 31, 2010

The institute has trained and encouraged over 600 graduates from our conferences, courses and workshops. Once they get into newsrooms across the country, they have little support for the ongoing task of integrating their Christian faith and journalistic excellence.

WJI should offer them follow-up support and encouragement in their calling. These WJI grads are an invaluable resource in populating American newsrooms with thoughtful and competent Christian journalists, and the institute needs to continue to be a part of their professional lives.

It is expected that the alumni project will increase the professionalism of the graduates and provide support and encouragement to stay the course. The most desired outcome, however, will be the strengthening of the grad's Christian commitment and sophistication in integrating their Christian faith and journalism practice.

Description

The alumni project will create the following:

  • At least one annual weekend conference held at the WJI headquarters in New York
  • Regional gatherings in media centers (Washington, D.C., Los Angeles, Chicago, etc.)
  • Dinners and special events at national journalism conventions
  • A WJI part-time mentor assigned to assist the WJI grads
